Dubatt has recently completed feasibility studies for our latest project: the establishment of the first Lithium ion and Electric Vehicle (EV) battery recycling facility in the MENA Region. This innovative initiative will be the first of its kind in the region and has been made possible through our partnerships with leading technology companies from Europe and the US.
We have already secured the necessary land and licensing for the facility and anticipate launching operations by Q3 of 2025. Our facility will be capable of recycling a range of Lithium-based batteries, including Lithium Cobalt (LCO), Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), all within the same location, optimizing efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
As Electric vehicles and Lithium-Ion Battery applications are showing tremendous growth, it is critical to invest in recycling facilities for these batteries considering the fact that they become a hazardous waste at its end of life. Lithium batteries contain toxic chemicals that can leach into the environment if not properly disposed of. Recycling these batteries allows for the recovery of valuable materials, such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and copper, which can be used to manufacture new batteries or other products. Recycling lithium batteries reduces the need for new mining, conserves resources, and promotes sustainable waste management practices.
